University Hospital Districts' imaging centers; Medical Imaging and Physiology in Helsinki, Imaging Center in Tampere, Medical Imaging Center of Southwest Finland in Turku, KYS Imaging Center in Kuopio, and OYS Department of Radiology in Oulu, are the parties providing imaging services.
The imaging services provide medical imaging for specialist medical and health care. The product range covers traditional x-rays, contrast medium, ultra-sound, computed tomography, angiography, and magnetic resonance imaging. Additionally, various examinations for clinical neurophysiology and clinical physiology and nuclear medicine, requiring special skills and techniques nationwide are provided by these service units. Experts in radiology and hospital physicists provide clients consulting services. Most of these unit services also include long-term archiving of the pictures produced in a digital archive as well as image processing services. Clinical trial related imaging pictures can be burned on CD, sent, and processed as agreed in contracts.
Turku PET Centre
Turku PET Centre is one of the background organizations for Turku Clinical Research Center. The Centre is a Finnish National Research Institute for the use of short-lived positron emitting isotopes in the field of medical research. The Center consists of an Accelerator Laboratory, Radiopharmaceutical chemistry laboratory, Preclinical imaging laboratory, and PET imaging laboratory. In Finland, Turku PET Centre serves as a national provider of health care services associated with the clinical use of PET. The services not only include PET studies but also CT, MRI (1.5T and 3.0T), PET/CT and PET/MRI, and ultrasound studies.
